Steve Merricks is currently 4th Degree Black Belt. He has been 4 times British Champion, European Team Champion and a former World Champion. He has competed in a record breaking 6 World Championships, competing in both sparring and pattern events. He is ranked as one of the most consistent competitors on the tournament scene spanning over 12 years. The pinnacle of which in 2000 he became World Middleweight Champion in Eindhoven, Holland at the 5th Open World Tae Kwon-Do Championships. Steve is a fully qualified International Instructor. His Club in Shirley is ranked as one of the best in the country having trained numerous students into National Champions and successful Black Belts. He has appeared in Tae Kwon-Do magazines, newspapers and on local radio highlighting his achievements in his art. Steve says “Tae Kwon-Do has given me many great opportunities and experiences through the years. Although competing was my main outlet, Tae Kwon-Do has so much more to offer. If you are looking to improve fitness, gain confidence, self awareness, learn a means of self-defence, or even just make new friends, then Tae Kwon-Do is for you. Whatever aspect appeals to you, there is something for everyone.” As for being an Instructor, Steve goes on to say:-“To me Tae Kwon-Do is all about learning and having fun. I’m extremely proud of my students; there is a great atmosphere at the club making teaching a pleasure.
